There are many major social and environmental challenges related to the way we produce, process and consume food. Despite abundant food production, hunger and malnutrition in the world are increasing. Agroecological approaches can play an important role in ensuring food and nutrition security for all. In the dimensions of availability,  accessibility poverty alleviation , stability increasing resilience and utilization diversified diets , agro-ecology has significant potential to improve food security.
The History of Blanche de Namur
Usually made from unmalted wheat with barley malt, witbiers have a hazy pale color; they are seasoned not only with hops but with spices – Belgian brewers have added herbs, spices, and fruit to beer for centuries. After fading in popularity in the early s, witbier sales have roared back during the past 20 years. Blanche de Namur is made from barley malt, unmalted wheat, hops, and the classic witbier spices: coriander and bitter orange peel.
It also has a touch of brewer’s licorice. Hopping levels are fairly low to allow the spices to shine through; the yeast strain is traditional, and Blanche de Namur is bottle-conditioned. Enjoy the tastes of fennel, sage, butter, rosemary or truffle, of tomato, eggplant and oh, parmesan of course. I finally did so last week. Julia and I sat down and were very warmly greeted by Jonathan Cardelli , who is one of the three owners of the restaurant.
We started with a glass of Prosecco and dived into the menu. All pasta is homemade, handmade, most ingredients come from Italy, and everything is freshly made, almost on a daily basis. And pasta is not the only self-made thing in this place; the whole bar and the light wooden tables are made by the father, Jonathan.
The industry-style lamps are also carefully picked and imported from Italy, giving the place a clean, simple industry charm. As a starter, we chose a glass of red wine and their famous and slow food award-winning Caponata, an aubergine-tomato stew, to which they added crispy, toasted nuts.
